TITLE: American Red Cross Lifeguard Trg 15+
DESCRIPTION: This 40-hour course is for the person who wants to be a lifeguard at a community pool. The course covers skills and knowledge necessary to respond to aquatic emergencies, including first aid and CPR for the professional rescuer. Prerequisites: Be at least 15 yrs. old before course completion (no exceptions). Must be able to swim 300 yards continuously using front crawl or breaststroke; swim 20 yards, dive 7-10 feet, retrieve 10 pound brick, surface and then swim 20 yards back to starting point and exit the water without use of ladder or stairs; tread water two minutes. Students who pass the class receive a certificate valid for two years. Note: This program does NOT qualify you to be a lifeguard for the Park Authority.
