TITLE: Birding for Beginners
DESCRIPTION: (12-Adult) Interested in birding? We can get you started. Learn about the park's birds and some basic identification skills. Program begins with an indoor discussion. Children age 12 to 16 must be accompanied by a registered adult.

TITLE: Birding the Cross County Trail
DESCRIPTION: (8-Adult) Enjoy a leisurely walk along Fairfax County's Cross County Trail. This unique trail meanders along different habitats that attract many bird species. Meet at Lake Accotink, bring binoculars and wear comfortable shoes for walking.

TITLE: Canoeing Tour (16-Adult)
DESCRIPTION: Experience the upper Potomac's beautiful scenery and wildlife from the water. Start with an introduction to canoeing basics then head out onto the river with an instructor. This is not a whitewater tour and no previous experience is required. Three people per canoe, one of whom must be age 16 or older. Paddling and safety gear provided. Canceled if inclement weather or hazardous river conditions.

TITLE: Father's Day Cruise (2-Adult)
DESCRIPTION: Treat Dad to a special day with the family aboard a 32-foot pontoon tour boat at Lake Accotink Park. Spot soaring eagles and sunbathing turtles while slowly cruising for 30 minutes around the lake. All pre-registered passengers receive a beverage and treat on board. Arrive 20 minutes before your cruise time to check in at the ticket building. Registrants will be notified if cruises are cancelled due to adverse boating conditions such as inclement weather or high wind.

TITLE: Father's Day Family Fishing
DESCRIPTION: (4-Adult) Celebrate Father's day with fishing in the parks. Supplies and equipment provided, or bring your own rod and reel. All fish caught will be released, and we'll give you some tips.

TITLE: Fishing by the Stream
DESCRIPTION: (5-Adult) Meet at Cabell's Mill. Join a naturalist and go fishing along Rocky Run stream. Learn about native fish and receive tips on equipment and techniques. Beginners welcome. Bring your own fully rigged fishing poles; worms provided for bait. Children must be accompanied by an adult registered in the program.

TITLE: Fishing for Parent and Child (6-17 yrs)
DESCRIPTION: Learn how to fish together! This introductory course starts you with the basics including how to rig and use a fishing rod, safety, environmental awareness and fishing. Rod/reel rentals are available from the park for an additional fee.

TITLE: Fishing Fun (7-11 yrs)
DESCRIPTION: Learn fishing basics while having fun. This class helps improve fishing skills with spinning and closed faced reels while teaching safety, catch-and-release fishing, and protecting the environment. All equipment is provided. Supply fee of $20 payable at first class. Winter classes are held indoors.

TITLE: Full Moon Boat Tour (6-Adult)
DESCRIPTION: Enjoy a picturesque night under the full moon aboard the Burke Lake Park tour boat. Test your listening and observation skills to spot local wildlife with one of our naturalists.

TITLE: Geocaching Workshop (8-Adult)
DESCRIPTION: Students learn to use hand-held Global Positioning System (GPS) units to locate hidden treasure caches within Burke Lake Park. After learning how to enter latitude and longitude coordinates into a GPS, students follow the coordinates to find a hidden object, container or unique geological feature. Bring your own GPS; a limited number are available to borrow from instructor at class.

DESCRIPTION: Paddle Lake Accotink's tranquil waters with a naturalist guide for an early morning view of wildlife. Glide past bald eagle nests. No previous experience required. Single-seat kayak and life preserver provided. Boaters younger than 16 must be accompanied by an adult registered in the program. Canceled in case of rain or unfavorable water levels.
