This Sunday performance series, held at Frying Pan Farm Park's Visitor Center, showcases some of the best of local and regional Bluegrass musicians. Food and beverages are available. Doors open at 6pm, concert starts at 7pm. Tickets will be available for pick-up at the door the night of the show. All sales are final. Season Pass guarantees reserved seating for all shows. 10/05/14 After working on several of Cracker Barrel's Heritage Series CDs in early 2002, Linda and David Lay, along with David McLaughlin, decided to perform a few shows. Their first concerts resulted in standing ovations and rave reviews so they decided to keep going. They subsequently added two of McLaughlin's band mates from the influential 1980's group, The Johnson Mountain Boys: Tom Adams and Marshall Wilborn. The group performs original songs and their own unique arrangements of songs and instrumentals pulled from a wide variety of musical genres. Doors open at 6pm, concert starts at 7pm. The series at the park's visitor Center is sponsored by the Friends of Frying Pan Park and Vienna hardwoods in cooperation with the Fairfax County Park Authority. 11/16/15 Bill was born in Washington DC and makes his home in Vienna, Virginia. He started singing and playing the banjo in 1953 and went on to become the founder of the world famous Country Gentlemen and the leader of the US Navy's Country Current country/bluegrass band. He is one of the most influential 5-string banjo players of all time and has recorded and performed with more bands than any other banjo player. Doors open at 6pm, concert starts at 7pm. 02/01/15 Formed in the Chicago area in 1975, The Special Consensus is a four-person acoustic bluegrass band with a repertoire that features traditional bluegrass standards, original compositions, and songs from other musical genres performed in the bluegrass format. The band has released 16 recordings and has appeared on numerous National Public Radio programs and cable television shows. Banjoist Greg Cahill, leads a group of talented musicians comprising one of the most engaging bands in Bluegrass today. Doors open at 6pm, concert starts at 7pm. 03/01/15 For over thirty years, Patent Pending has been performing and recording bluegrass music. The bands tight harmonies and energetic picking were honed through the early years in the Washington, DC music scene, where they held weekly gigs at some of the areas top bluegrass venues. During the 1980s, Patent Pending r ecorded four albums and played extensively. By 1984 the band had b ought a bus and played festivals and shows in twenty-two states. 03/22/15 Eddie Adcock's professional career as a 5 string banjoist began in 1953 with Smokey Graves & His Blue Star Boys, who had a regular show at a radio station in Crewe, VA. This led to jobs with other musicians, including Bill Monroe, Mac Wiseman, Bill Harrell, and Buzz Busby. After Elvis Presley decimated the market for country music, Adcock returned to working day jobs. Then he joined The Country Gentlemen, which went on to become a bluegrass music industry fixture for decades. He now performs with his wife Martha and former Seldom Scene bass player Tom Gray, and calls Nashville his home. Doors open at 6pm, concert starts at 7pm. Series at the park's Visitor Center is sponsored by the Friends of Frying Pan Park and Vienna hardwoods in cooperation with FCPA. Food and drinks available for purchase.
