10/04/15 The members of this true super group all played in the Lonesome River Band in the '90s and have paid their dues for decades touring, recording and songwriting within the worlds of bluegrass and country music. Vocalist/songwriter Ronnie Bowman has released 4 solo discs and co-written top Nashville hits. Grammy nominee Don Rigsby's high tenor vocals and mandolin have been heard with numerous bluegrass acts. Guitarist Kenny Smith records and tours with his wife and has released a pair of instrumental CDs showcasing his clean and stunning chops. Doors open at 6pm, showtime is 7pm. 01/17/16 Circa Blue is all about bluegrass, not traditional yet not contemporary. They perform original material and adapt other songs using their own arrangements. Tight vocal harmonies, clean instrumentation and creative arrangements keep audiences tapping their toes or dancing in their seats. Band founder Steve Harris plays guitar and sings lead and harmony vocals. Garrett Wren on mandolin, Ashley Stewart on bass, Matt Hickman on banjo and Malia Furtado on fiddle complete the group. Jimmy's non-standard and instantly recognizable mandolin style grew from his start fronting surf-rock bands. Moondi Klein's impressive vocal acrobatics started on the Metropolitan Youth Opera stage and led him to sing lead vocals with prominent bluegrass bands. The bands tight harmonies and energetic picking were honed through the early years in the Washington, DC music scene, where they held weekly gigs at some of the area's top bluegrass venues.
